Our first "Moonrise Gathering" owes a lot to James Dugan for making it happen. We had explored non-bar/club venues for Mood Doculation before, with parties at Jack's Place 2004-2006, however, James took things to a whole new level by mixing a great space (Centerspace) with 3 great bands. In addition, he connected us with two live painters, a visualist, and a trippy light show. The Mood Docs, Alpaca!, and Off the Grid, made quite a team as they each jammed into each others' sets, rotating throughout the evening. At the end of the night, all three bands grooved out together in one collective "super-jam".

Set one for the Mood Docs saw us building steam into the evening, as well as debuting an instrumental version of "On the Mountain". Set two featured a special vibe with the band and audience, and contained large improv sections as well as an electrifying version of 3-D. It is also of note that Alpaca! kept us all on our toes with their versions of the Tetris Theme, Inspector Gadget, Axl F (Beverly Hills Cop Theme), and Gangsta's Paradise surfacing throughout their sets. Lots of familiar faces were in the house, including Ben Coe, Meredith Calhoun, David Seerveld, and Christine Betow. Thanks to all for a really special night!
